We left Michigan Thursday morning and made it to Gallup New Mexico today. As the map shows we stopped in Springfield Illinois, Springfield Mo, Ell City Oklahoma, Tucumari New Mexico and tonight in Gallup New Mexico. We have encountered rain and wind while traveling but missed major storms. It definitely has been cold and was frosty this morning. The trees on the mountains had frosted tips. We have had good luck with our campgrounds so far and the scenery is beautiful. Two more days and one night till we get to Yuma where we will stay for November and December. This route aligns with Route 66 so every town we’ve stayed at have their own salute to The Mother Road.

Celebrating Jai's birthday today and packing up!

We have been home a week and are now packing up Mystic Explorer for the fall/winter trip west. Quick turnaround but so goes the life of a retired couple.
Hope you all enjoyed our Mediterranean trip as much as we did. So much history and amazing people we encountered over the past month.

Looking forward to a slower pace. large_IMG_5945.jpeg

Final day in Greece. We were able to sleep in finally in a month. Our plan was to relax except I wanted to go to the beach and swim in the Mediterranean Sea. We took the tram- public transportation is always a puzzle for me never using is on a regular basis. The tram ride gave us a great view that we hadn’t seen before. After seeing a few beaches that were busy with weekend locals I picked on not as busy and with shade for Jai- the Saronic Gulf at Glyfada Beach was it. The water was great and I enjoyed a quick float so I could at least get into the sea this trip once. Other stops never gave me a chance.
Found a wonderful beach place for beers and pizza before taking the tram back. Now the packing begins… We fly out at 6am so getting to the airport by 3am will make a very short night.
Hope you enjoyed following along on our amazing trip thru the Mediterranean.

Final excursion of the trip was heading to Delphi where an ancient oracle once influenced the fate of emperors and empires. We first toured the Archaeological Museum of Delphi. Next we went outside to visit Mt. Parnassian which contains the Temple of Apollo, the market, amphitheater and the theater, I was the only one to climb to the top- view was amazing. We had lunch at another local restaurant and a long bus ride back to the hotel. On the ride we passed many cotton fields that they were harvesting. I always see lots of fabric when I see the fields and bales. The cats/kittens are everywhere in Greece! Also the tortoise see to pop up in unusual places.
Eva was who guided us since arriving here. She was amazing.

Tomorrow is a free day and flight out 6am Sunday.

Today we took a bus to explore the Peloponnesus peninsula that has breathtaking ruins and rich histories. We stopped at the Corinth Canal which was built in 19th century and shortened the travel time immensely. In Epidarus we saw the massive ancient amphitheater which is still used to this day. Lunch was at another amazing Greek restaurant with local specialties food and wine. Finally we went to Mycenae passed thru Lions Gate and I hiked to the top- amazing views from above. The area is covered with clementine groves, vineyards and olive trees. Even passed a MG dealership on the trip
Dinner was at the same place as last night- Arsenis Taverna
