Thursday we had a walking tour of Bamberg Germany. It was a long walk almost 12,000 steps. As I’ve said many other days on this trip, the streets are narrow, cobblestone and hilly. Bamberg is known for its rauchbier a smoky beer made with malt dried over open flames. It is also one of the few cities in Germany not destroyed by World War II bombing. It has the largest repository of retained medieval structures in its Old Town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bamberg is situated on seven hills each crowned by a church.
