We are in Budapest Hungary after a very long 24hrs. We left Detroit Sunday at 6:44pm flew to Frankfurt Germany, next Paris and then Budapest. No one is quite sure why we took the circuitous route-especially the immigration officer in Germany. We finally arrived in Budapest at 7pm Monday evening, met a Viking host and transferred to Hilton Budapest. It is a beautiful hotel in the Buda Castle area overlooking the River and city of Pest. For this who didn’t know like me- The city of Buda is on one side of the Danube River and Pest is on the other. Today we took a food tour that we set up- Taste of Budapest. It was a four hour tour that covered lots of food and drink. Our guide is a local that leads many different tours of the city. The other 2 couples were from Texas and just finished their River cruise. We started at the Main Market downtown Pest and spent the morning visiting many establishments and learning history and eating so much food. So worth the time/money we spent. We returned to hotel where I dropped off Jai and wandered the Buda side eof the city. So many beautiful buildings to see, steps to climb and enjoy this area before we head to the boat. Today I walked over 16,000 steps-I’m sure I’ll feel it tomorrow. Enjoy my pictures of the first couple of days in Budapest.
