A Travellerspoint blog

2021-10-19

We visited Patroits Point Naval & Maritime Museum this morning and self guided the WWII Aircraft Carrier USS Yorktown & WWII Destroyer USS Laffey. There were two other things on site that we did not visit, a Vietnam Experience and the Cold Warm Submarine. It was a beautiful sunny day to visit these ships. We then headed to a group lunch a Charleston Crab Shack-shrimp and grits were our choices today and they were amazing. Following lunch the group went to The McLeod Plantation Historic Site. The docent was impassioned on sharing the history of the Plantation and the Gullah people. Inside the house they had some beautiful artwork and quilts. We leave Charleston tomorrow and head to Savannah Ga. Less than a week and our adventure with this group will end in St. Augustine Fla.
