Started the day finding a laundry mat -needed some clean clothes. We headed to a farm so I could hike up to see the Scottish Highland Coos(spelled correctly). There is a park, golf course and many hiking trails to wander around. I found out where to go to see the cows and went on my way-hiking a trail near the golf course
I saw them and had to climb over a locked gate with permission of course ???? and headed toward them. I was told they will usually turnaround and show you their backside but I was able to get near two. 1st was not friendly and in fact snorted and swung his horns so I backed off. The other one that was near was quite docile and let me scratch him and sat still. There were other further up but decided I had my fix and hiked back down. Jai found a local micro brew pub so we headed there for a pint. While there one employee took us on a tour which was interesting
As many the owners started in their garage and now have twice outgrown their space.Late lunch followed then home.
Left Edinburgh this morning for York. I found a lighthouse not far off our way. After making in to town I asked a couple of gentlemen how to get to it and they gave perfect directions. These narrow streets with high stone buildings are not easy to figure out where the lakeshore would be. I walked out to the end-beautiful breakewall out to the lighthouse. I met a couple with three schnauzers thta I offered to take a picture of the entire family. I then was able to snap a quick pict of the furries. Back on the road to
visit Hadrians Wall-Birdoswald Roman Fort-another history tour for me. Just after arriving the skys opened up and we had it the rest of the afternoon. We needed to backtrack East to get to York and got rain, construction and Friday traffic. Finally arrived at AB&B-unpacked and walked a few miles into town for dinner and you guessed it-a pint. Here the beer in room temperature-not bad just different. We've been lucky so far and all the places we've stopped for lunch/dinner on this trip have been great. Lots of fresh/local sources meals
On to London tomorrow for three nights and a guided tour of the highlights.
