A Travellerspoint blog

Spent time wandering around the sites Franklin Kentucky today. Visited Old Friends at Kentucky Downs. They have 7 retired thoroughbred racehorses and a pony. All saved from a fate others met once their racing careers are finished. The original location in Georgetown houses 175 horses. We were able to feed them carrots and show them a little love.

Next we visited the Octagon Hall. It was closed so we had an outside view of the Hall. It also houses a Civil War Museum.

Downtown Franklin has the Archives and Old Jail building. People are able to come and explore their heritage in the files on hand. Also families have donated personal artifacts and their own family genealogy. The volunteer was very knowledgeable and excited to share the experience and what the future holds for their expansion across the street.

Final stop was lunch at a great Mexican restaurant-El Potrero Cantina.
